Preparation of Carbon Monoliths from Orange peel for NOx Retention
نویسندگان
چکیده
A series of monoliths are prepared from orange peels and chemically activated with H 3 PO 4 , KOH, ZnCl 2 , and water vapor without a binder. The monoliths were characterized by N 2 adsorption-desorption isotherms at 77 K, Boehm titrations and XPS. Thereafter, monoliths were tested for their ability to establish NO x retention. The results show that the retention capacities of NO x were a function of the textural properties and chemistries. The carbons synthesized with ZnCl 2 and KOH retained similar amounts of NO x .

Response surface methodology for optimization of supercritical fluid extraction of orange peel essential oil
Background: Orange peel essential oils were obtained using supercritical fluid extraction. This method is an important high scaling extraction methods that used for extraction of plant and animal extracts. Methodology: The experimental parameters of SFE such as temperature, pressure, and extraction time and modifier volume were optimized using a central composite design after a 24-1fractional ...
متن کاملOrange-Peel-Derived Carbon: Designing Sustainable and High-Performance Supercapacitor Electrodes
Interconnected hollow-structured carbon was successfully prepared from a readily available bio-waste precursor (orange peel) by pyrolysis and chemical activation (using KOH), and demonstrated its potential as a high-performing electrode material for energy storage. The surface area and pore size of carbon were controlled by varying the precursor carbon to KOH mass ratio. The specific surface ar...
متن کاملSynthesis of Porous Carbon Monoliths Using Hard Templates
The preparation of porous carbon monoliths with a defined shape via template-assisted routes is reported. Monoliths made from porous concrete and zeolite were each used as the template. The porous concrete-derived carbon monoliths exhibited high gravimetric specific surface areas up to 2000 m²·g-1. The pore system comprised macro-, meso-, and micropores. These pores were hierarchically arranged...
متن کاملCitric Acid Production from Orange Peel Wastes by Solid-State Fermentation
Valencia orange (Citrus sinensis) peel was employed in this work as raw material for the production of citric acid (CA) by solid-state fermentation (SSF) of Aspergillus niger CECT-2090 (ATCC 9142, NRRL 599) in Erlenmeyer flasks. To investigate the effects of the main operating variables, the inoculum concentration was varied in the range 0.5·10(3) to 0.7·10(8) spores/g dry orange peel, the bed ...

The effect of some natural wastes (orange pomace, orange peel, lemon pomace, lemon peel, apple pomace, pear peel, banana peel, melon peel and hazelnut shell) on the production of xylanase from Trichoderma harzianum 1073 D3 has been studied and maximum activity has been observed on melon peel (26.5 U/mg of protein) followed by apple pomace and hazelnut shell. Also, molasses could be used as an a...
